As a forever student of movement Sylvie combines her love and study of all types of movement with a natural ability to be inclusive, compassionate, and honest. In her classes, workshops, and 1-on-1 training sessions students are encouraged to be who they are and come ready and willing to explore and play. Sylvie strives to empower her students while encouraging them to try new things, be willing to fail (failure is essential for learning!), smile and then try again.
Sylvie has been a mover her whole life and her background as a professional figure skater, choreographer, and educator are highlighted in her teaching. In 2014, Sylvie turned to yoga as a way to “heal” after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. She did her first 200-hour teacher training in 2016 with Tiny Buddha Yoga and is currently completing her 300-hour teacher training with Briohny Smith (Aligned Yoga).
Yoga workshops with Carson Clay Calhoun sparked her initial interest in inversions. Never having done handstands before, Sylvie realized the importance of having strong and knowledgeable teachers and mentors to guide her practice. Since first getting upside down, Sylvie has studied with several top inversion and movement teachers worldwide including, Liav Baron (Ido Portal Method – Ape Co Movement School), Harry Williams (Perth Handstand God), and Carson Calhoun (Handstand-Up Comedian).
Sylvie is an E- RYT 200, Doctor of Philosophy – Education, Yoga and Movement Teacher
